Dr. Roberts

Dr. Roberts is a vitreoretinal surgeon and founder of Retina Specialists of Idaho, PLLC. He completed his undergraduate training at Brigham Young University receiving a B.S. in Zoology and thereafter attended the University of Utah School of Medicine.

His internship was completed at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY followed by residency training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He completed a two-year vitreoretinal fellowship with Robert Morris, M.D., Doug Witherspoon, M.D., James Kimball, M.D., and Ferunc Kuhn, M.D. known leaders and innovators in retinal surgery. His residency and fellowship training boast some of the highest clinical and surgical volumes in the nation.

Dr. Roberts has had extensive training in ocular trauma and reconstruction as well as the latest techniques in vitreoretinal surgery. He has received awards for outstanding research during residency and innovative surgery during fellowship. He is Board Certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, International Society of Ocular Trauma, Idaho Society of Ophthalmology, Idaho Medical Association, and the Helen Keller Foundation for Research and Education.

Dr. Earl

Dr. Earl is a vitreoretinal surgeon who completed his undergraduate training at the University of Utah receiving a B.A. in Biology with minors in Spanish and Chemistry. He then attended the University of Colorado where he completed his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees as part of the highly selective Medical Scientist Training Program.

His internship was completed at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver followed by residency training at the University of California, Irvine. He then completed a two-year vitreoretinal fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. During fellowship he has worked with internationally recognized faculty in treating a variety of complex vitreoretinal disorders. He has helped supervise and train residents on the latest surgical and laser techniques while achieving some of the highest surgical volumes in the nation.

He has been inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha National Honors Society and has received awards for outstanding research as a resident on macular degeneration. He is Board Certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists.

Dr. Gealy

Dr. Gealy is a vitreoretinal surgeon who completed his undergraduate training at Washington University in St. Louis, where he received a B.A. in Chemistry and a minor in Humanities. He then attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia where he completed his M.D.

His internship was completed at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, followed by residency training at Brown University in Rhode Island. He then completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Retina & Vitreous of Texas, where he had the privilege of working with internationally renowned faculty while treating a variety of complex vitreoretinal disorders. He was also a sub-investigator in several cutting edge clinical trials for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion.

He received research awards in both medical school and residency, and has presented his work at international meetings and published articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is board certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists.

Dr Roberts, Dr Earl, and Dr Gealy all participate in and are in compliance with Maintenance of Certification (MOC) through the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
